If you feel like something is missing from your life, it is!
What is missing is the real you.
The name, memories, thoughts, likes, dislikes and the personality are Not you.
All these mental constructs were added later.
The real you is the life principle and bliss that existed before you took on a form.
Having identified yourself with the additions and abstractions, you now feel something isn't right. It isn't.
How can you lose infinity for some tiny boundary state and be happy?
To correct for this, identification with thoughts and mental processes needs to be halted, at least momentarily so the real you can be realized. This is the goal of meditation.
